Ideas Portal (Closed)

The Surpass Ideas Portal is now closed.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed over the years by submitting and voting on ideas, which have all been extremely valuable to the development of Surpass. We are no longer accepting new ideas via the IdeasPortal.

We still want to hear ideas form the Surpass Community,and in order to streamline the process we’re moving to a new innovations management system, which will allow us to efficiently manage and review ideas.Surpass champions within each organisation will have access to the new system and will be sent details of this soon.

All ‘open’ ideas on the Ideas Portal will be sent back to the parent organisation that submitted them, for review and resubmission on the new system where appropriate.

  1. Easy use of formative tests: send keycode by email to candidate

    A very simple but effective way to improve Surpass for real formative testing is to send the keycodes by email to the candidates.

    How?
    If you schedule a formative test, you only need to add the following:

    1. The maximum number of attempts to make the test (e.g. maximum 3 times).
    2. An email to the candidate with the keycode(s), time span you need to use those keycodes and the URL to start the test (so it is only for formative test by browser).

    All non used tests should be voided automatically after the scheduled end date.

  2. To have the Actual Duration available as a column in the Test Audit.

    The Actual Duration would be the sum of the time a candidate has spent in each question they answered in a test. At the moment this can only be derived from the difference between the Test Delivered and Test Submitted times in the Audit Report. However if the test has gone offline this difference is not accurate. By having the Actual Duration as a column in Test Audit it could be exported and analysed in a spread sheet. This is important in identifying possible malpractice where a candidate has completed a test in an unfeasibly short period of time.

  3. Custom keycode slips

    A setting that allows us to create custom keycode slips with only some of the fields, eg Just name, date and keycode.

    Can there be a way to Bulk Download files uploaded for candidates? It would be much easier

    Can files also please be tagged with candidate names automatically.

  5. Enable use of 'randomise test forms' when Bulk Scheduling

    The bulk schedule tool is very useful when scheduling lots of candidates but we have several tests that we would like to choose 'automatic selection' of test forms as we have a number of versions available. Therefore, please could bulk scheduling support the randomise test forms feature too?

  6. Photo ID as part of the candidate record

    It would be great to have the option of uploading pictures to the candidate record.
    These should appear as part of the candidate confirmation ("Is this you?") to help ensure the candidates are not sitting under the wrong details.

  7. Sub-centre creation

    Some centres who register candidates then send those candidates out to do exams with other centres.

    Due to data protection the centres have some issues viewing results etc.

    If we could setup subcentres as part of a centre this could help.

    Ideally the candidate would have a primary centre where they are registered and a subcentre where the are sitting the exam.

    Both parties should be able to schedule and run exam and see the candidate's results, but the result should be associated with the primary centre for the purposes of integration.

  8. Candidate review - add extra colum [Results]

    When you schedule a test for a candidate review you are able to select all candidates or select them manually.
    The problem is that the list of candidates consists of ALL scheduled candidates including those who didn't show up when the test was taken. We VOID - ABSENT all candidates who didn't take the test.
    Those candidates are not allowed to take a candidate review.
    Right now you can't see which candidates are voided during scheduling a candidate review. You only see the following data of the candidates: Name, Ref, Keycode, Test form, Completed.

  10. Accessing live assessment through Invigilation tab

    Ability to access a live/in progress/user disconnected assessment through the invigilation tab. This would allow a teacher to open a candidates live assessment and review what they have done so far. This is particularly useful in CBP where at the moment teachers must use the keycode to access the assessment to see candidates evidence. Using the keycode is admin-heavy and instead double-clicking on the assessment in invigilation would be a more efficient and attractive method for teachers

  11. Changing Font for Pupils with Special Educational Needs/Access Arrangements

    Hi, we have a pupil who needs to use a minimum of font size 24 however we were unable to increase this for her during her test today. Is there any way that we can alter the font for one individual pupil?

  14. Ability to remark questions after exam

    If it is found in Item Authoring that questions have the incorrect maximum mark or a question was ambigious and proving to be problematic for students. Can highlight amendment in red so viewers know it has been manually amended since completion of exam.

  17. Multiple candidate exam

    It would be nice to have an exam (of sorts) in which a center can schedule multple candidates for one exam (which is setup specifically for this purpose).

    The exams would appear as 1 entry with 1 keycode and be run in the normal way but when run would have a number of tabs to represent the candidates.

    Each candidate would get the same exam/questions etc. and the purpose of this exam would be for an assessor to assess the learner's competency against specific requirements.

    At the point of submission (into results) this should then split into the individual learner's…

  18. Show candidates the correct answer when reviewing sample / practice tests

    For our practice tests we would like candidates to get more information to help them understand what they got wrong. At the moment when candidates click on the question number they answered incorrectly (from the review screen) it takes them to the question but only highlights the answer they gave. It would be far more helpful if it also indicated what the correct answer would have been, allowing them to use the practice test formatively.

  19. Should use Template base delivery in Item authoring and Test administration.

    We could use Template based delivery for item authoring and test creation and test form. this help us to save lot of time.
