How to Escalate an Item
Step 1: Navigate to the 'Marking' Screen
First, you must navigate to your chosen item within the 'Marking' screen of SecureMarker.

Step 2: Escalate the Response
When marking an item, if you are uncertain about the mark you should award the response or if there is an issue with the quality of the response, you can select the 'Escalate' button. This alerts a higher-level user or senior examiner that they should review the item.
Step 3: Explain Reason for Escalation
Next, you will be required to submit a reason for the escalation from the list of available options. Select one or more reasons from the list available.
Once you have selected an issue, you can enter any additional comments in the box provided. This may be mandatory, depending on the option(s) you have selected.
Select 'Escalate' to confirm.
Note: If an examiner has attempted to escalate a Control Item, they will automatically be suspended from marking.
