How to Clone Tests and Test Forms

About: You can clone tests and test forms so that you can apply the same settings to multiple tests and test forms easily without having to manually change them. This may be useful if you have multiple tests or test forms that need the same settings applied. This article will explain how to clone tests and test forms.

Step 1: Allow use as template

 

Select ‘Edit Test’ to open the test you want to clone. Ensure that you apply the ‘Allow use as template’ setting in the ‘Edit Test’ window, found under ‘General Settings’.

Repeat for the relevant test form you want to clone. Select the ‘Allow use as template’ setting in the ‘Test Details’ section of the ‘Test Form Details’ tab in the ‘Edit Test Form’ window.

 

Step 2: Clone Existing Test

In the ‘Tests’ tab, select the ‘Create Test’ button, then select ‘Clone Existing Test’.

Find the test you want to clone by selecting the subject it is associated with, then selecting the relevant test from the drop-down menu. Only subjects containing tests which have the ‘Allow use as template’ setting applied will appear in the list of subjects.


Next, choose the subject you want your cloned test to be associated with. All subjects you have access to will appear in the drop-down list.

You can then give your clone test a name and reference.

Select ‘OK’ to create a clone of the chosen test. The cloned test will appear in the list of tests in the data table and the ‘Edit Test’ window will open so you can check the settings of the cloned test.

 

Step 3: Clone Existing Test Form

In the ‘Test Forms’ tab, select the ‘Create Test Form’ button followed by ‘Clone Existing Test Form’.

Find the test form you want to clone by selecting the subject it is associated with. Only test forms with the ‘Allow use as template’ setting applied will appear in the drop-down list.

Next, choose the subject you want your cloned test form to be associated with. All subjects you have access to will appear in the drop-down list.

Important: If you want to associate the clone test form with a different subject, it must be in a 'Subject Group' with the subject the original test form is associated with. 

You can then give your clone test form a name and reference.

Select ‘OK’ to create a clone of the chosen test form. The clone test form will appear in the list of test forms in the data table and the ‘Edit Test Form’ window will open so you can check the settings of the clone test form and edit the content if required.
