Below you will find details of new and changed features that have been introduced in R12.6 of Surpass. The features are divided into sections based on the area of the system which they affect.
Test Delivery: Scale Score
Candidates can now see their scale score in test feedback if a scale score mapping has been applied at Test Creation. This means that candidates for these tests will now see a score at the end of their test that represents the scaled, not raw, score.
Item Authoring: Item Tags
Item Authoring has been redesigned to allow for searching and filtering according to item tags. Item authors may filter the items in a subject according to workflow status, or use a variety of tag values within multiple tag groups. For a more detailed description, watch the video on the Learning Portal.
Item Authoring: Superscript/Subscript in Editable Text
Item authors are now able to add superscript and subscript characters to the editable text in Item Authoring. Question text and answer options can have these special characters without using the Equation editor. The subscript and superscript options are available under an 'Advanced' button in the formatting toolbar. Please note that when using this advanced function, the ability to highlight text and to strikeout answer options will not be available to candidates.
Item Authoring: Tabbing
Item authors are now able to use tabbing functionality in question and answer text. This option can be found under an 'Advanced' button in the formatting toolbar.
Item Authoring: Right to Left Languages Fully Supported
Right to Left languages are now supported in the Item Authoring screens. Item authors are able to select their chosen text direction under an 'Advanced' button in the formatting toolbar.
Test Administration: Support for Reasonable Adjustments during Candidate Breaks
Users are now able to use the 'Modify Duration' buttons during test scheduling and invigilation to configure reasonable adjustments for candidate breaks. This means that tests takers who are entitled to additional time during tests sessions can now have their candidate breaks extended accordingly.
Test Administration: Allocation of a Common PIN
When scheduling a test, a common PIN code is now allocated to all candidates scheduled for the same test to be sat at the same centre with the same test end date. Should you decide you would not like all candidates to share a common PIN, in the Invigilation screen you are able to remove the PIN and set the PIN again, so that each PIN is unique.
Reporting: Rescoring - Support for Scale Score and Grade Boundaries
We have introduced support for scale score and grade boundaries in the Rescoring screens of Surpass under 'Scoring Data'. So now any changes that are made during Rescoring that affect the scale score mapping or grade boundaries of a test can be edited within the same screen without having to navigate away. It is possible to apply and edit a scale score linked to a test form in the Rescoring screens.
Reporting: Rescoring - Ability to Apply Scores to Non-scored Items
Users are now able to apply scores to items that were originally set to non-scored in a test form. When editing a test form in Rescoring, users can select a non-scored item and then select the 'Add Item Score' button. On confirming, the candidate's response to the question will now be scored and have an effect on their overall mark for the test form.
Setup and Site Admin: Candidate Tags
It is now possible to create tags and tag groups that can be used to apply to candidates during Setup. There are no default candidate tag groups, the groups will be custom groups created by Site Administrators.
Integration: Updates to v2 of the Surpass API
There have been a number of updates to the Surpass API for Release 12.6, including the ability to:
